We’ve finally reached Maelbrathyr and after a finding a stable for the wyverns and a getting a good rest we headed out to explore the city with Mizr’setah Menotherian serving as our guide to keep us from offending the wrong people. While wandering around the town Adrik and I meet Huxley, a local street kid, who with a little incentive provides us with some valuable information on suspicious movement of duregar and slaves heading out of town with mining supplies. I’m sure that Huxley’s knowledge of the workings in the city will continue to be valuable to us.
Next we head to the Wicked Wench, a nice local bar located right next to the city barracks. While enjoying a local brew that had a slightly spicy taste to it called Fire Belly Ale I hear Gesh and Mizr’ challenge a couple drow who are playing darts to a ‘friendly’ game with a 500gp wager…can’t they just relax and enjoy a good beer and an actual bed for the first time in days. It looks like the dart game is going well for them, but then the drow start to make nearly miraculous shots and Mizr’ starts missing shots that she should be able to make in her sleep. In addition, Mizr’ notices a Nizzandra house symbol on one of the drow, and that house made an assassination attempt on a leader of Mizr’s house. Right at the end though Thangobrind notices that the drow have been using magic shadows to manipulate the darts during the game. This kicks off a vigorous disagreement over whether they cheated which Gesh promptly ends with a headbutt to one of the drow.
Bar fight! I guess I was wrong, they do know how to relax in a bar properly. The drow apparently had some goblin friends with them and ask them to go fetch their slaves to help in the fight. I rush through the room and dive over a table to stop them, but I am only able to reach one of the goblins before they make it out the door.
Everything went dark.
Where did these spiders come from?
The fight is over and being the victors it is only proper that we humiliate the losing drow by putting some…shall we say embarassing…marks on their faces and locking them into the cage they used for their slaves.
We tip the bartender well, thank them for running such a great establishment, and head out. Gonna sleep well tonight.
