From the journal of Torrin Stormtooth
After giving my fellow Dragonborn a proper burial, we set to the north, in pursuit of the one responsible for the destruction to the farms and homesteads north of Kotham. After a couple of hours we happened on a large wall that had been breached by some unknown force. we had learned caution from our “river crossing” gone awry and Nicolas had the idea to scout the other side by climbing a tree near the wall. He however only managed to get a few feet off the ground before it rushed up to meet his hind end again, at which point Kildrak chuckled and climbed a tree on the opposite side of the breach with ease. As I mused to myself about a fighter climbing a tree easier than a ranger (in FULL PLATE no less!) I heard Nicolas scoff, he raised his crossbow at the tree and fired a pattern of bolts into the truck and raced up them. I shook my head and chuckled to myself-he wont live that down for a while.
The Light-hearted mood was soon broken by the unmistakable thump of a dragon’s wings and there was little time to react, a red dragon swept in ready to unleash its fiery doom; but due to our caution we were well spread out. In what seemed frustration it went for the smallest of the group Perion which would turn out to be a mistake. It snapped down at him from the air then had a bolt from Nicolas’ crossbow find its mark in a wing muscle(the resulting thud from the impact was highly entertaining). Perion cast a holy power on it allowing us to share of its life force. I charged forth declaring Kord’s fury with my divine challenge, and slashed at the downed tyrant, subjecting it to my divine sanction.
Kildrak came from his perch and moved forward and did something to his war hammer to make it shimmer with frost. A giant toad appeared and began lashing at it with its tongue, the dragon inhaled and loosed its fire upon those unfortunate enough to cluster together. In a stroke of luck only minor damage was inflicted merely singeing hair and armor, the battle had just begun and we were getting lucky so far.
We whittled at the hide of the great red beast with little retort until we wounded it, it let forth a furious roar and bit at me. It found its first good mark and clamped onto my waist spouting fire onto me through its fangs, I roared my disapproval and released my icy breath full into its face. It swiped at Kildrak and grabbed him with a claw and the tables turn for the worse for a moment. Kildrack was swept from its grasp by some power of Perion’s and I wrestled free of the jaws and slammed my sword into it re-surging my vitality and Kildrak’s.
We had the upper hand again and a great tide of serpents burst forth from the earth and grabbed the beast wrestling it down and biting it repeatedly. It managed to break free as more blows were struck and when it attempted to flee the tide of serpents was tripped up by magical vines, more bolts found their mark and another hammer blow. Then the unthinkable happend… it beast folded its wings around it as a shield and begged us to stay our wrath.
It was female, Raiden her name and her tongue does nothing but spin lies as she bargins for her life. In my bloodied fury I threatened to rip her wings off and leave her a lowly drake, the others highly disapproved of it (I still say its a good idea) Now we must choose what path to take, do whatever necessary to get the information we need; or just kill the lying whelp and find our own answers.
