After I returned from scouting, I recommended we just walk around the pyramid. We rested and the muscle wizard faction all voted “go into the pyramid”. Going into the pyramid was dangerous, but with the dracolich around, going on alone would have been suicide. As we approached the temple, I was surrounded by them, instead of my usual place out front. “No need for scouting”, they said. “We’re expecting a fight, we should be out front.” It sounded like it did.
And then Gesh shot me. It hurt. A lot. I ran to the gnome, and put up my cloud. “You knew this day would come!” He looked right past me, and fired a magic missile. “Ring of skulls! They’re, heh, dominating him, heh.” Kildrak seemed able to survive the effects without trying to kill someone, though. Can’t rule out that Gesh wanted it. They tell me everything’s back to normal, now.
Adrik healed me; we efficiently eliminated the skulls from a safe distance, and went in the temple. We walked into another trap. Troglodytes fell from above onto the muscle wizard faction out front. Might as well test how things go while we’re right by the door. Thangobrind protected me, while I killed things in a corner. They pushed their way through the rest of the room. Adrik kept me safe, more than “just alive”. Kildrak finished one that slipped away from me, before he could free two wyverns from a cage.
Still safer than a dracolich.
